Free NHS Flu Jab
Are you eligible?
The flu vaccine is offered FREE of charge on the NHS to people who fit into eligible groups or are over 50 years of age. This is to ensure they are protected against catching flu and developing serious complications.
To find out if you qualify for a free flu jab just answer a few simple questions
Where do you live?
Are you male or female?
Are you pregnant?
Are you aged 50 or older?
Does the following chronic diseases or social criteria apply to you?
- Chronic (long-term) respiratory disease, such as severe asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or bronchitis
- Chronic heart disease, such as heart failure;
- Chronic kidney disease at stage three, four or five
- Chronic liver disease
- Chronic neurological disease, such as Parkinson’s disease or motor neurone disease, or learning disability
- Diabetes
- Immunosuppression, a weakened immune system due to disease (such as HIV/AIDS) or treatment (such as cancer treatment)
- Asplenia or splenic dysfunction
- Morbid obesity (class III obesity with a body mass index greater than 40kg/m2)
- All pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy
- Carers of a person whose health or welfare may be at risk if the carer falls ill Persons living in care homes or other long stay facilities
- Household contacts of immunocompromised individuals
- All nurses and carers working in residential homes and care homes (with nursing) – further information available WHC (2018) 016 Flu vaccination for residential care and nursing home staff 2018-19
- Members of voluntary organisations providing planned emergency first aid at organised public events
- Active members of the Welsh Ambulance Service Trust community first responder scheme providing first aid directly to the public
- Individuals who work on a voluntary basis (are not paid) providing care on a frequent basis to one or more people whose welfare would be at risk if the individual became ill

Does any of the criteria below apply to you?
- You work for NHS England
- You work for Public health England
- You work for the Mayor &/ or Greater London Authority (GLA) Event
- You are Homeless
- You are a Care Home staff member but not included in the national Service
- You are a Frontline Health Care Worker NOT included in the National Service
Does any of the criteria below apply to you?
- You work for Greater London Authority, London councils and relevant bodies at events planned, organised and agreed at designated site
- You are Homeless;
- You are a Care Home staff member but not included in the national Service. e.g. cleaners, caterers, agency and admin staff
- You are a Hospital Trust staff
- You are Primary Care staff – members who work in a Pharmacy, GP, Dentist or Optician under the NHS
- Pneumonia (see criteria here)
You're eligible for a FREE NHS flu jab.
You are unfortunately not eligible for an NHS flu vaccine.
